Movie Review: In the Tall Grass

In the Tall Grass...a short movie review for people with short attention spans!
Spoilers Possible!!!
Director
Vincenzo Natali has been in the game for quite a while, directing such mind benders as Cube, and Splice, as well as episodes of Luke Cage, Hannibal, and Westworld.

Starring
Laysla De Oliveira (Needle in a Timestack), Avery Whitted (The Vanishing of Sidney Hall), Patrick Wilson (Aquaman), Harrison Gilbertson (Upgrade), and Rachel Wilson (Come Play).

Plot
After hearing a young boy's cry for help, a sister and brother venture into a vast field of tall grass in Kansas but soon discover there may be no way out...and that something evil lurks within.

What I Think
The movie starts with a brother and his pregnant sister running away from some life event. During the drive, the sister got nauseous and had to vomit so the brother pulled over along side a huge field of grass. While the siblings are talking they hear the distant voice of a child pleading for help in the field. The brother moves the car to a parking lot across the street and heads into the the field to search for the kid. His sister follows a few seconds later and is instantly lost. They begin to search for each other and the boy for a very long time. They then realize that there are more people in this field of tall grass.

As we progress through the film there are time shift sections, multiple dimensions, moments of sheer terror, and the list goes on. Plenty of room for the plot to run around in, and it does. When all is said and done the movie had a decent closing, but I guess that depends on what the average person considers decent.

While watching this movie I had a few moments of Déja vu, as if I had seen this same scenario somewhere else. Then it hit me. Vincenzo Natali was the director of the Cube series and Stephen King wrote the screenplay, which made perfect sense once I connected the dots.

This movie had a feel of The Shining, 1408, Cube, and Children of the Corn. It is claustrophobic, tense, and in short an absolute mind f@#$.

I give this movie a solid⭐⭐⭐⭐ of 5 stars.
