Movie Review: Doom: Annihilation

Doom: Annihilation...a short movie review for people with short attention spans!
Spoilers Possible!!!
Director
This movie was directed by Tony Giglio who also directed S.W.A.T.: Under Seige with Michael Jai White and Adrianne Palicki as well as Extraction with Danny Glover and Vinnie Jones.

Starring
Amy Manson (T2 Trainspotting), Dominic Mafham (Ophelia), Luke Allen-Gale (Captain America: The First Avenger), Jemma Moore (Wonder Woman), James Weber Brown (Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation), Amer Chadha-Patel (Army of One), Chidi Ajufo (Where's the Money), Louis Mandylor (My Big Fat Greek Wedding)

Plot
Follows a group of UAC Marines as they respond to a distress call from a Top Secret scientific base on Phobos, a Martian moon, only to discover that it has been overrun by demons who threaten to create Hell on Earth.

What I Think
As the movie opens we see that a volunteer is getting ready to be teleported from the Earth to Mars. Both locations are communicating with eachother to ensure that all is well. The volunteer steps into a portal made by ancient stones. He makes it to the Martian location but something has gone wrong. Now is the end.
I had a little bit of hope for this particular movie thinking that it would follow along the lines of its predecessor, DOOM, which starred Duane "The Rock" Johnson. Unfortunately it was done in a very low budget way. The Star Base was very obviously a miniture done practically instead of in CGI. The monsters I expected to see here were less than awesome. They were done practically and looked extremely artistic but weren't particularly scary. The raw gore that you get in the game is not present in this movie at all as you would expect.
Dialogue and acting could have been much better as well.

If you were expecting a gory Horror filled holy hell of a movie in the vain of Silent Hill, Resident Evil, or Dead Space
then you may want to keep moving along.

In honor of Halloween I give this movie 💀💀½ of 5 skulls.
