Plot

After suspecting that their police officer neighbor is a serial killer, a group of teenage friends spend their summer spying on him and gathering evidence, but as they get closer to discovering the truth, things get dangerous.
Synopsis

As we begin this journey our main focus is Davy Armstrong, played by Graham Verchere, as he rides his bike to deliver newspapers. He’s letting you know that being in a small suburban area makes you forget that danger is always around.  At this point we are starting to unfold what is going on. He opens up one of the newspapers to see that a new missing child in the area has been discovered. Being a curious kid he starts to formulate an idea of what may have happened to said kid, from him being kidnapped to being killed by a serial killer.

He recruits his best friends to help him with this investigation into who could be responsible for these disappearances. As we move along through the story he starts to suspect his next-door neighbor, a local police officer named Wayne Mackey, played by Rich Sommer. Moreover the investigation becomes very intense with his neighbor looking more guilty by the day until finally the killer is revealed.

Did the cop do it or was Davy just following a red herring?

What I think

This movie was riddled with 80's callbacks. From the music to the hairstyles to the clothes everything was a flashback especially for those that were born or lived during that time. Within the movie you had suspicion running deep among the kids, uncomfortable tension and realizations, child murders, young love, dysfunctional families, etc.  Nothing was ever quite what you thought it was and because of that you can see how the neighborhood may have missed that they may have been living among the killer.

The verdict on this movie, for me? With all of the fun that the kids have in the movie you can feel the suspense that they are experiencing; from child abuse to loneliness. All of the friends had their own set of problems. The main problem that they all shared is that nobody would believe them, mostly because they weren't adults.

Watch the movie knowing that not all outcomes are what you expect them to be.

As always, if you like movies about serial killers, child murders, the 80's, and suspense/thrillers then this movie is for you.

I give this movie ⭐⭐⭐⭐ of 5 stars.

I am putting together a YouTube channel to go hand in hand with my blogs for a more thorough review and hope to get it up and running in the next couple of weeks. When I start getting episodes up I will attach them to the review at the bottom.  Until then, enjoy the read and like, subscribe, and follow my blog for the latest movie reviews.
