Movie Review: Green Room (2015)

Green Room … a short movie review for people with short attention spans.
Spoilers Possible!

Directors: Jeremy Saulnier has also directed Murder Party, Blue Ruin, and Hold the Dark.

Starring: Anton Yelchin (Star Trek), Imogen Poots (The Art of Self Defense), Patrick Stewart (X-Men), Alia Shawkat (Whip It), Callum Turner (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald), and Joe Cole (A Prayer Before Dawn)

Plot: At the end of their low budget tour, a punk band accepts a gig at an isolated rural club, only to discover that their hosts are neo-Nazis.

What I Think: Let's start by remembering Anton Yelchin who passed a couple of years ago, he was gaining so much momentum in his career and a freak accident ended his life much too soon. Rest In Peace.

As a former drummer for many bands I was watching this movie from a musicians point of view. There are times when you take show without really knowing what the attendees are all about for the paycheck. In this case the show was for a group of neo-Nazis...not the best of crowds. The band finishes playing their set and end up witnessing a crime that cannot be unseen. From this point on, all hell breaks loose and all bets are off as this punk rock band must fight to survive the night.

Patrick Stewart does a phenominal job of shedding his Professor X persona and being a person you absolutely hate. The action is intense with extreme murders, dismemberment, and the tension is cranked up to 11, see what I did there? We hold our breaths around every corner they must step through because the next step they take could be their last.

If you like intense thriller/suspense movies, horror, punk rock, or just crazy plots then look no further than Green Room. Pick it up.

I give it ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5 stars.
