Movie Review: Captain Marvel (2019)

Captain Marvel … a short movie review for people with short attention spans.
Spoilers Possible!!!

Directors: Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck

Starring: Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Jude Law, Annette Benning, Djimon Hansou

Plot: Carol Danvers becomes one of the universes' most powerful heroes when earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.

What I Think: Even before the movie begins Marvel showed a huge amount of respect to the late Stan Lee by incorporating all of his cameos into the Marvel Logo you see at the beginning of all Marvel movies. I am not gonna lie, there were some
tears shed right up front.

This movie did a great job of answering a few questions that we have been asking for years such as, How did SHIELD turn into what it has become? Who was the first hero drafted by SHIELD? What happened to Fury's eye? What in the hell is a FLURKEN? You will need to see the movie to answer those last two questions.

The film takes place in the mid 90's but starts on a Kree Planet. We meet Vers, Brie Larson, who is a soldier of the Kree Army that is being trained by her mentor Yon-Rogg, Jude Law, and is learning to control her powers. While learning all of this fighting and power control is going in she get to go on a mission to save a spy from the Skrull race which are shape shifters. She is then abducted and has her head scrambled. She escapes to Earth and throughout the rest of the movie she is trying to figure out who she really is.
The main plot of the movie is a simple one, when you fall get back up. No matter how many times you fall get back up. Learn and get stronger with every fall and use those lessons to push through the adversity and the belief that you are not weak and that you can and will survive.

There are a few surprises and a great soundtrack to the movie. Be sure to stay for the after credits scene and the after after credits scene.  You will not be disappointed.

As always, if you like superhero movies, the Marvel Universe, or a good old fashioned melee you will enjoy this movie.

I give it ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ out of 5 stars
