Movie Review: Aquaman

Aquaman … a short movie review for those with short attention spans.
Warning: Possible Spoilers!

This is a little ditty about a half human/half Atlantis heir to the underwater kingdom (Aquaman) that has lived a majority of his life on land.  He is being beckoned to return to the sea to fight his evil a**hole brother who wants to bring hell upon the land lubbers and send them to the bottom of the ocean.  Aquaman must prove he is the rightful heir to the Atlantean throne, convince himself he is worthy to be a king, and kick his brothers ass, all while battling all sorts of foes to get there.

It's safe to say that this wasn't the best DC Universe film to come out but it was better than Batman vs. Superman, I'm talking to your #BenAffleck!! Let's look at the Pros and Cons of this film.

Pro
Great cast - Jason Momoa, Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, Dolph F***in' Lundgren, and many more.

Great Director - James Wan who also Directed The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2, The Nun, Saw 1, Insidious, etc. All great Horror movies

Great Action - Hyper elaborate fight scenes that killed.  Impossible stunts.

Con
To many plots - There were an abundance of story lines. I know this is the introduction to Aquaman but there were definitely plots that could have been removed.

Black Manta - I enjoy that they brought out Black Manta but they could've made the costume a little more real world and a lot less comic book.  Yes, I get that the helmet was an integral part of the costume but come one, stream line it.  Costume designers could have made a memorable costume that was menacing and easier to fight in, instead it looked like something out of the Power Rangers.
(Off my soap box)

All in all it was a good movie, exciting, and I didn't walk out of it.

If you like fantasy movies, muscular dudes, lots of dialogue and bad jokes then look no further than Aquaman.  Also stay after the credits for the Aquaman 2 teaser.

I give this movie ⭐⭐⭐¾ of 5 stars.
