Spoilers Possible!!
Director
Born in Madrid, Spain, Gonzalo Lopez-Gallegos is an Editor that also Directed Apollo 18, Open Grave, and Nómadas.

Starring
Patrick Wilson (Bone Tomahawk), Ian McShane (Deadwood), John Leguizamo (Chef), Lynn Collins (John Carter), and James Belushi (Undrafted)

Plot
A new sheriff of a small town along the U.S. and Mexico border investigates a gun running cartel deal that goes horribly wrong.

What I Think
The movie starts with a truck being modified to smuggle armor piercing bullets across the US/Mexico border for the cartels. One smuggler has to the drop off his cargo on the Mexico side and then wait for a second smuggler to arrive. If the second smuggler is late then nobody will leave alive.

Meanwhile...a small town sheriff makes a traffic stop that will put into motion a savage chain of events that will include murder, shady deals, dirty cops, and many more bad things.

From the beginning of the story you get a feeling of dread like what is going to happen will be the worst possible outcome for all parties involved and that feeling never goes away, it is ever present.  Bad decisions lead to worse decisions. Our bad guy (Leguizamo) is very handy with a machete and guns, needless to say he is a very efficient killer.

Our heroes, or anti heroes depending on how you see them, are forced to attack this problem with brutal force and by any means necessary. Many will die and those that do survive will be left with real and emotional scars for the rest of their lives.
I enjoyed the plot very much, the story was fairly straight forward, and the characters were good with personal problems and back stories. There was a bit of confusion in a couple of scenes but these eventually come back around to make sense.

If you like cop dramas, cartel oriented action, and a good amount of murder then this may be your kind of movie. Think SICARIO or Hell or High Water.

I give this movie ⭐⭐⭐¾ of 5 stars
