Movie Review: 6 Underground

6 Underground...a short movie review for people with short attention spans!
Spoilers possible!!!
Director
This movie is lead by big action director Michael Bay, who brought us such flicks as The Rock, Armageddon, and the Transformers Series

Starring
Ryan Reynolds (Dead Pool), Mélanie Laurent (Inglourious Basterds), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (Sicario: Day of the Soldado), Ben Hardy (X-Men: Apocalypse), Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim: Uprising), Dave Franco (Now You See Me), and Corey Hawkins (BlacKkKlansman)

Plot
Meet a new kind of action hero. Six untraceable agents, totally off the grid. They've buried their past so they can change the future.

What I Think
In the opening, we learn about our narrator and lead who is a very rich risk taker. We get to see how his story begins...sort of.  This is followed by a 15 minute car chase with all of the bells and whistles to include extremely graphic deaths, explosions, crashes, and bucket-loads of blood. The car versus pedestrian crashes are extremely graphic and hyper realistic. This high octane movie is very action packed but also has an important statement and, what I interpreted as, a political position.
As we follow the plot there are six members of this shadow organization funded by a billionaire who wants to overthrow a foreign government. All are specialists in their respective fields and all of them are completely nameless and that is how it is meant to be. Anonymity is key.

The mission is to create a coup to drag down a dictator that is using poison to kill his people and insert his brother into power. The two are polar opposites who have different agendas. One seeks to crush the spirit of his people and use his power to stay rich and rule with an Iron Fist while the other seeks to lift his people from the depths of sorrow and tyranny and lead instead of rule.
Our heroes risk their lives to complete the mission but in doing so they make many mistakes that almost cost them.

6 Underground plays like a cross between the game Ghost Recon and Oceans 11 in that you have a military extraction and an elaborate plan to go with it. I was entertained by the action and there was some comedy included to break up the seriousness of what was going on.

All in all a great escape from reality that is sure to keep you at the edge of your seat.

I give this movie ⭐⭐⭐⭐ of 5 stars.
