What I Think

The beginning of is very much like a Tarantino movie in that we see the end of the movie first then do a deep flash back to a time when our Anti hero was most active. During the flash back we can see that the police are pulling up to a party with a group of Chicano gang members. The main police officer Gomez, played by George Lopez, asks the gang leader Shadow, played by Emilio Rivera, about an officer involved shooting in the area. They trade verbal jabs and as Officer Gomez leaves he notices that there is graffiti in the shape of a local myth known as El Chicano on a stop sign. This signifies that there is an evil person in the area that will be killed soon. As the story unfolds, gang members are shaking in their boots and the morgue has bodies piling up.
Fun Fact:  This movie about an Aztec Avenger was very hard to get made but the fact that it was made at all was a bit of a miracle. The Director went to every studio and was turned down because there wasn't any Caucasian representation in this Latino driven vehicle. He ended up having to go to Canada to get it made. Once it was approved and put into action a great cast of new and veteran Latin actors were assembled to bring out the spirit of the theme.

This is a bit like a Mexican John Wick with a decent story line and action. Who wouldn't like to have a neighborhood vigilante cleaning up the streets where the police can't. The story behind why El Chicano does what he does and why he does it is laid out pretty clear but who originally was El Chicano is a bit of a mystery but by the end you kind of get an idea.

If you like cultural movies with a deep good versus evil feel to it  then this movie may be a good one to put on you must see list.

I give this movie ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ of 5 stars.
