Movie Review: The Nun

The Nun … a short movie review for those with short attention spans.
Warning: Possible Spoilers!

Directed by:  Corin Hardy

The Nun stars: Demián Bichir and Taissa Farmiga.

If you are paying attention to The Conjuring universe then welcome to where it all starts.  This is the latest movie in the saga but it is also the beginning.

The Nun takes place in 1952 and begins with the unholy act of a nun committing suicide at a convent. A priest and other nun are asked by the Vatican to go and check out what happened and report back. Once they get there other nuns are very secretive with the details and everything is extremely creepy. From the convent exterior to the foreboding interior all seems lost to the demons within. There are jump scares, demonic possessions, and your classic good versus evil premise.

As you go down the rabbit hole in this movie there is a chance you will discover all of the Easter eggs that are hidden throughout that will lead up to the future (past) movies.

As always, if you have a fear of suicide, ghosts, the supernatural, religion or the dark then I suggest you find a good Disney flick to watch instead because this is not for you.

For the most part this was a scary movie that checked most of the boxes for horror fans but it didn't knock it out of the park.

I give this movie ⭐⭐⭐ of 5 stars
